OUR STORY

The thing nobody mentions

Somewhere in your forties or fifties, something shifts. Not dramatically, and not every day. But there are mornings when you step out of a shower you took carefully, put on a fragrance you have worn for years, and still feel that something is not quite gone.

Most people never say it out loud. They shower longer. They buy a stronger perfume. They stand a little further back.

Persimo exists because that instinct, sensible as it feels, does not work.

THE SCIENCE

It is a compound, not a hygiene problem

Japanese researchers gave the thing a name in the late nineties: 2-nonenal. It is a compound the skin produces in greater quantities as we age, formed when the fatty acids on our skin oxidise. It carries a distinctive note, faintly grassy, a little like old paper.

The important part is that it is oil based.

Ordinary soap is built to lift water soluble things. Sweat, dust, the day. Faced with an oil, it moves it around rather than removing it. This is why a longer shower does not settle the matter, and why perfume only layers one scent on top of another. Nothing was wrong with your washing. The soap was simply never designed for this.

JAPANESE TRADITION

An old answer to a new question

Long before anyone isolated 2-nonenal, Japan had persimmon.

Kakishibu, the fermented tannin extract of the astringent persimmon, has been used across Japan for centuries. It preserved fishing nets and paper, and it was worked into cloth and soap for the simple reason that it left things smelling clean. Nobody had the chemistry. They had several hundred years of noticing what worked.

Persimmon tannins bind to oil based compounds. That is the whole mechanism, and it is why a fruit from a Japanese orchard turns out to answer a question a laboratory only got around to asking decades later.

THE BAR

What we made

A single bar, and only a bar.

Persimmon extract does the work. A base of cold pressed olive oil and virgin coconut oil does something equally important, which is to leave your skin better than it found it. Mature skin does not forgive being stripped, and a soap that solves one problem by causing another is not a solution.

There is no synthetic fragrance in it. That is deliberate. A deodorising soap that announces itself defeats the point, and your own perfume should smell the way you chose it to, not the way our soap decided.

What we will not do

block

No miracle claims

We will not tell you this reverses ageing. It does not. It addresses one compound, and it does that well.

verified

No invented proof

We will not print a number we cannot stand behind, or show you a customer who does not exist.

spa

No invented routine

One bar, morning and evening, on the chest, back, neck and behind the ears. That is the whole method.

Sixty days

You cannot know from a website whether this is right for your skin. So try it for two months. If it is not, write to us and we will refund you, and there is no particular need to explain yourself.

We would rather you found out than wondered.
